Russian and Belarusian participation in WSA/IFSS World Championship Sprint and Mid-Distance in Östersund
It is with a heavy heart that we have decided not to allow the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials in the upcoming WSA/IFSS World Championship Sprint and Mid-Distance in Östersund at any level. This decision is in line with the recommendations from the International Olympic Committee, Sweden's Ministry of Sports and the City of Östersund.
We welcome and appreciate the many calls for peace by mushers and officials and in particular admire and support the calls for peace by Russian and Belarusian mushers. The Ukrainian mushing community are in our hearts and thoughts.

The Östersund 2022 organisation togheter with WSA, IFSS is working hard to ensure that sled dog competitions can be held despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and in a manner that protects the health and wellbeing of all involved.
As the situation is ever-changing, we will continue to work with all sled dog stakeholders to ensure we emerge as strongly as possible from this difficult period and we thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
